Nordic Photography Experience 2012
Theme: Tactics for now!
Web site of the project: www.nphe.ru/en
March – October ` 2012
Nordic Photography Experience is a program of a cultural and educational exchange and cooperation of photographers and photography experts from Nordic countries and Russia.
The aim of the program is to acquaint the general public and the Russian photographic community with contemporary photography of Nordic countries and to adopt experience of the European professionals in the sphere of theory and practice of contemporary photography, organization of exhibitions, festivals and work of the institutions supporting art of photography. The second important purpose of the project is to give curators and photographers an opportunity to learn a lot of Russian contemporary photography.
The main topic of discussion and workshops is Tactics for now! All invited experts are going to speak about actual role of contemporary photography from different points of view. We have asked them to cover a range of concepts and tendencies in photography and in the modern art, and to put questions for discussions and reflections about the future of photography in the period of changes occurring in media, society and art.
Nordic Photography Experience takes place in St.Petersburg for the second time. In 2011 the program lasted from January to July. 11 curators and photographers from Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark took part in lectures and seminars; also they held workshops, portfolio-reviews and lectures. The great result of the year became the huge exhibition of the Russian contemporary photography “Territory of Desire” on the photo festival Backlight 2011 in Tampere, Finland in which 22 Russian photographers have taken part.
In 2012 the program extends and includes 3 seasons – March, June and October, and consists of workshops of photographers, lectures of curators and discussions.
